Thank you for your blog. I feel like I am not alone on this Italian Island. I live in Catania, Italy and some times feel all alone even though I see other women on base. I don't know them and I have a few people I say hi to but, I don't know them well. So, I can't say we are good friends. I don't have little ones at home anymore so I can't join a playgroup to make friends. When we moved here my kids were in school. I don't have a job here so, I can't make friends that way either. It's so hard. I miss my family and my friends back in the states. Ugh! It's good you have family that come here to visit you and you go back to the states. Good luck with your blog. Your doing a great job. I love the blog. PS. Do you know of any playgroups for families that want to play with English speaking kids. My daughter is learning Italian in school. I think she needs more time speaking it to help. DEE from Catania
Hi Dee, thank you for your comment! I don't know of any English-speaking playgroups, but perhaps you could get connected to the Dodo School in Motta and meet some American families and kids that way? I know it is so hard to live a foreign country with kids. I hope that you're able to make some connections in and out of Catania!
hi again, its sonia :-) i just wanted to say to dee that i know what shes going through and sicily is not easy sometimes...im here so if anyone needs help can write at my mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks so much for offering your support, Sonia.
Hi Becca , I just love reading about your life and everything that has happen. It keeps me informed and I am so glad that I can share you life's adventure with you since I haven't been able to visit. I am thankful for this blog. My e-mail is email@example.com. From Florida
I'm so glad!
Hi, i know this is completely random but i just had to thank you for this. I don't know if you realize but the healing God has done with you and your family, and you being so kind enough to share it, has helped me so much. I didn't know your sister but her faith, your faith and your families faith has changed me. I'm so sorry for your loss but i'm so happy for her and being with our Lord Jesus. He is just so awesome. Romans 8:18 is now my "life verse" if you will.. I'm new to the relationship with Christ because i converted 2 years ago. But again, thank you so much. Peace and be Blessed.
Thank you for this kind comment and for your words! As Christians we have so much to look forward to. The glories cannot be compared to these present sufferings, right? Thank you for encouraging me.
Hello! My husband is in the process of picking orders and our first choice is Sicily =) It looks amazing and we are excited about the possibility of getting to live there for 3 years. We have a 5.5 year old son and a 7.5 month old daughter and I know they will love it over there. I am so glad I found your blog because it is very helpful. I look forward to your future blogs about the area and can't wait to find out if we will be joining you in Sicily.
Tabitha, this makes me so happy! This is one of the main reasons I write this blog. I'm so glad that you've been able to learn a little from our experiences on here. I also recommend two of my friends' blogs:http://arthurfamilychronicles.blogspot.it/http://www.emilymarita.blogspot.it/
Thanks, I will definitely check them out! It's funny because at church this morning our pastor preached a sermon on facing our giants and not knowing where we are headed next is one of my personal giants but I know that God will provide no matter where we end up and we will make the best of it as a family. I am so excited to see what's in store for us. =)
Hello! My husband and I might be moving there as he has been offered a position to teach at the base school. Did you enjoy it? Any tips for a couple moving from Los Angeles?Thank you for your time.
let's have a conversation!
